The real killer is the tech hiccups
For the second time in as many tries, Ubisoft has had to cancel an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Elite Mercenary event. The debut was canned on October 18. The follow-up, which was supposed to take place later this week, has also been shut down.
Remember Damais the Indifferent? So far we’ve had no success in tracking him down, so, unfortunately, there won’t be a live event this week.
We’re working towards a solution to address an issue that prevents the mercenary live events from appearing as soon as we can. Stay tuned. pic.twitter.com/BHqEp1g3cb

Ubisoft hasn’t clarified exactly what’s causing the Mercenary events to not work. The mercenary system seemingly works flawlessly and as-intended in the normal game. However, the live versions that are classified as “events” have problems appearing on the servers.
More puzzling, Mercenary events are bi-weekly. On its off-weeks, Ubisoft has Elite Ship contracts that rotate in. The ship events function properly. There was a battle against The Black Wind last week that went off without a hitch. It’s only the mercenaries that have issues.
Ancient Greece is full of all sorts of mystery, I guess. Maybe the third time’s the charm.
