My Christmas, birthday and everything else just came early
WayForward has just announced that everyone’s favourite half-genie hero and my only friend, Shantae, is set to return in a brand new adventure later in 2019. Shantae 5, which is probably a working title, will launch on PS4, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the recently announced Apple Arcade platform.
This will be Shantae’s first foray into action since 2016’s Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, though my personal favourite entry in the series by far will always be 2014’s Shantae and the Pirate Curse, which is one of my favourite games of all time. Its amazing pixel graphics, fantastic score, completely redefined “pirate skills” gameplay, and great, genuinely witty story brought me back for playthrough after playthrough.
No doubt Shantae will be joined again by pals Rottytops, Sky, Bolo… perhaps that scurvy dawg, Risky Boots? No further information was given regarding this latest adventure, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from WayForward in good time. Stick with me, kid, because I’ll be bellowing it from the rooftops when it surfaces.
