It’s already been a decade!
Remember when the site used to be called Good Old Games? A lot has changed for GOG.com over the past 10 years. The digital store was originally cherished as a haven for classic PC games and overlooked gems without the annoyances of DRM. It still is! But GOG has really come into its own in recent years with newer releases, including triple-A titles and indies, and also its gaming client, Galaxy.
GOG has begun celebrating its 10th anniversary with a retrospective, game bundles, and a giveaway.
Users can currently vote on one of three games they’d like for free: Shadow Warrior 2, Superhot, or Firewatch. Three very distinct experiences. Once the deadline ends and the votes are tallied, you’ll be able to claim your free copy of the winning title. Just check back on Thursday, October 4.
At this point, it’s hard to imagine the industry without GOG. The site has become an institution.
“Our 10th Anniversary is a chance to step back, understand what works, and recognize the things we can do better,” reads a letter to fans. “As for what’s next – there’s plenty more to say about our vision for the GOG.com store and the GOG Galaxy platform: a new understanding of how the two complement each other, and where it makes sense to diverge and improve without compromise.”
