Gotta Go Slower
Jeff Fowler, director of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, has officially announced that the film will not see its original November 2019 launch date, having been pushed back to February 14, 2020.
Speaking on Twitter, Fowler posted an image of the new date along with the simple statement “Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right.” This was coupled with the faux-hashtag “no VFX artists were harmed in the making of this movie” referencing concerns that the decision to redesign the blue blur would lead to intense stress and crunch on the movie’s CGI team.
You might also have picked up on the fact that the new release date is, in fact, Valentine’s Day. So now you’ll be able to take the Rogue the Bat or Shadow the Hedgehog in your life out for an evening at the flicks and make a real romantic occasion of it.
Sonic the Hedgehog arrives in theatres February 14, 2020.
