Nioh 2 definitely looks good. While the visual presentation has barely changed, the gameplay looks to be a nice improvement over the original. Sporting more enemies and that neat Yokai transformation move, I’m curious to dig into the sequel and see how it stacks up. Thankfully, we won’t have much longer to wait before we can sample it.
Koei Tecmo has announced that it will be holding a beta for Nioh 2 starting November 1 and running until November 10. This will be an open beta, so you won’t have to pre-order the title or enter any raffle to give it a shot. I’m not sure if this will be similar to the first game, which had multiple beta periods to fine-tune balance and give people items for the final product, but it’s still an early look before the game launches. Since I’m aching for more Souls-like action, I’m fine with just a playable build.
If you really can’t wait, though, why not check out this new Tokyo Game Show footage? It shows off three people playing cooperatively in one of the earlier sections of the game. Like I said, not much has changed visually, but you don’t need to reinvent the wheel every time. Nioh still looks fine enough and I’m happy that Team Ninja is making good games again.
