Move fast and break things
Remedy’s next game, Control, has been quite the enigma since its E3 2018 reveal. There’s a giant supernatural government building, an “otherworldly” alien antagonist, all sorts of reality-breaking physics quandaries. We spent an hour looking at Control last summer, but it’s still shrouded in layers and layers of mystery.
That veil will be lifted shortly. In an interview with Game Informer, Remedy has confirmed that Control will release this summer. That’s vague but it probably affords a three-month window — June through August — when Control could feasibly launch.
This might be a best-case scenario for Control. Remedy’s last two major games suffered because of stuffed release dates. Quantum Break was sandwiched by the launch of Oculus Rift and Dark Souls III; Alan Wake was infamously stifled by debuting on the same day as Red Dead Redemption. Maybe the summer will be quiet enough that Control can make some noise.
