A lack of Moxxi
Google has released the final titles of 2019 for its fledgling game-streaming service Stadia. The three games – all of which are live in the Stadia catalogue right now – are 2K Games’ Borderlands 3, Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, and finally Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
Looter-shooter Borderlands 3 launched in September of this year to positive reviews from press and fans. Lock ‘n’ load for an open world packed to the brim with weird, colourful characters, explosive weaponry, and oodles of treasures just waiting to be looted. Unfortunately, the Stadia edition of Borderlands 3 has not been updated to the latest build, and thus is missing content and features from other platforms. A patch is expected in the New Year. As such, the Stadia version will not include the new Moxxi’s Heist DLC at launch.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is the latest entry in the military/mercenary shooter series, and sees a special forces group under fire on a private island, Aurora, which is owned and operated by a high-tech terrorist organisation. Breakpoint was trounced on release, chastised by both fans and the press for its poor level design, weak story, and heavy-handed implementation of microtransactions. The Stadia build does include a neat feature that allows you to see your team-mates’ POV as picture-in-picture.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is an action RPG set within the popular anime/manga universe. Players guide their custom hero through the sprawling Conton City, interacting with characters from the Dragon Ball universe,, completing quests, and throwing down in 3D fighting action. It received generally favorable reviews on release, but was criticised for not advancing its predecessor’s model, leading to some repetitive gameplay.
Borderlands 3, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 are all live on Stadia right now.
