Here’s 15 minutes of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order debut gameplay

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has finally been unveiled beyond vague “it’s Star Wars so it’s cool” platitudes, as EA has given us actual gameplay to judge today at E3. During their EA Play presentation we got roughly 15 minutes of raw footage, which begins “roughly three hours into the game” after protagonist Cal has gotten the hang of some of his powers.

So far it’s very Star Wars as one might guess: we see some light force powers like force push, lightsaber throwing, some slo-mo, and a whole mess of melee combat. Lock-on is a go, self-healing by way of your companion droid, and dismembering are a thing in this very melee-centric game, and as intimated in the debut trailer, light platforming is involved. Push, pull, flip (double-jump), and slow were confirmed after the stream.

Exploration is linear and seems to funnel quickly into myriad skirmishes, which is always a plus for an action romp. It won’t shy away from bestial combat either, as the demo shows a few fights with insectoid foes. While there’s nothing wow-worthy so far, it does seem like a decent enough successor to the Jedi Knight series.

As a recap, Jedi: Fallen Order will arrive on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 15 of this year. Development is being handled by Titanfall studio Respawn Entertainment.
