Persona 5 Royal adds a touch of class with Haru Okumura

The Beauty Thief returns

Atlus continues to fire through its gauntlet of character trailers for the upcoming Persona 5 Royal, getting us reintroduced with its band of likable heroes, The Phantom Thieves. Today sees the return of the group’s softest and sweetest member, despite her penchant for giant axes and grenade launches. It’s Haru Okumura, of course.

Haru appears very late into the Persona 5 narrative, having apparently been attending the same school as Joker, but never bumping into him once over the course of half a year. Haru is the daughter of food magnate Kunikazu Okumura, and is heir to the Okumura Foods corporation. Despite her security, youth, and beauty, Haru is bitterly unhappy, not only with the plans for her future, but also with her father’s ruthless and shady connections.

Circumstances eventually lead Haru to become a klutzy out-of-sorts Phantom Thief, though she soon comes into her own as one of the team’s more powerful heavy-hitters. Haru eventually comes to realise that her path is ultimately not dictated by anyone but herself, joining Joker and friends as a feared warrior in battle and a girl pure of heart outside of it.

In the new trailer, we see Ms. Okumura chatting at school with Yuuki Mishima, wearing her lovely new winter ensemble in new scenes with her father, as well as teaming up with fellow thief Morgana for her all-new team-up attack.

Persona 5 Royal launches in Japan for PS4 on October 31, before heading west sometime in 2020.
