Highlights from the Destructoid Community: The beginning

Recommended Videos

This setup belongs to Koobert who gave me the idea to start requesting all of the communities setups. Charlie Suh and Ceark, however, have beaten me to that idea but more on that this weekend.

Two weeks ago, the Destructoid Network was revamped into the ModernMethod Network. With that change, I took out the community spotlights. The amount of win spewing from the community has increased more and more to the point where we believe a recap just for the community aspect of Dtoid was needed.

So with that said, here is the new community spotlight feature. For the first edition of this new feature, it’s going to include two weeks worth of C-Blogs. Hit the jump for the highlights.

So during the whole Grand Theft Auto IV leak, Wardrox took it upon himself to hack our site and figure out what the Achievements for GTA IV were. OK, so he didn’t actually hack our site. He created a list that was secretly said “You Suck Donkey Cock and Trust Any Thing”. Now that by itself is pretty funny. But it doesn’t compare to the fact that a few sites found this C-Blog and thought it was actually legit!

It’s very rare for a blog post that just consists of one picture and one sentence to impress me. In the case of Skribble’s blog post though, I have to say I was very impressed. Sure you have to look at the SNES in an abstract sense, but the SNES really does look like Mr. Destructoid.

Count Grishnack continues to impress me with every post he makes. The Count took a look at the News Aggregate sites and said exactly what I feel about them too: They’re ruining videogame journalism.

RioMcCarthy is seriously one of my favorite Dtoiders around now. She constantly posts such amazing works practically every week. In fact, one of her last Art posts got promoted to the front page. Now she just needs to make a shark cake and everything would be perfect.

Speaking of epic win, Niero is a marketing genius! He got so sick of the lifestyle advertising, that he decided to make some of his own. This got the community’s creative juices flowing of course and there were quite a few hysterical ones made by some of you too.

My two favorite C-Blogs of first week of no C-Blog recaps were easily between dvddesign’s C-Blog and DJDuffy’s C-Blog. dvddesign decided to spoof the Good Idea, Bad Idea series by talking about how women are a good/bad idea. Now that in itself was pretty funny. This however didn’t sit well with DJDuffy who needed to make a rebuttal towards dvddesign’s blog by posting her Good Idea, Bad Idea: Men blog. Out of the two blogs, I think DJDuffy won simple for two reasons: One, she has a vagina. Two, she said I would make a hot lesbian. Fact: I’ve always wanted to be a lesbian.

That’s it for the C-Blogs from the week of 2/11. I’d like to end this by giving some late Happy Birthday wishes to Happy Birthday to NihonTiger90, Eschatos, Snaileb, Bleep, and Tristero!

Now then, here’s last week’s C-Blogs up until this past Sunday.

The week started of pretty big thanks to MechaMonkey. Mecha e-mailed Jack Thompson and tried to have a civil conversation with Jack. Of course, Jack doesn’t believe in being nice to gamers but Mecha held his chin high and was a gentleman throughout the e-mail exchanges.

Y0j1mb0, loves Destructoid. In fact, it cured his cancer! Y0j1mb0 was in a very loving mood so he decided to spread the love by verbally sucking us off. We love you to Y0j1mb0!

Suff0catingSight is a giant wrestling fan. He’s also a giant Destructoid fan. Combine the two and you get a Destructoid sign that appeared on WWE multiple times during the broadcast. Suff0catingSight, get a wrestler to rip the sign in half on live TV and it’s an instant promotion!

Congratulations to Toneman (you know, the guy with the creepy cat with bow tie avatar) on his
new job
in the videogame industry. You better do a good job on the game, otherwise we’ll flame it!

THIS JUST IN: WE SAVED THE WOLVES! REJOICE!

DtoidLosAngeles is go! If you’re in the L.A. area, then hit these guys up for Destructoid related events in the L.A. area.

If you haven’t figurd out the reason to the delay of this feature yet, it was because of GDC. Thanks to Topher for stepping up and doing some community work while I was out. Also, I don’t think I can ever ask for his help again. Half the stuff he said was a lie!

Seriously, I was busy at GDC. See, here’s proof thanks to TheGoldenDonut. I watched Chad play Ecochrome for like an hour. Super cereal busyness.

Congratulations are also in order to Excremento. He recently got married and has found out that he is going to be a father now! Life is going good for you buddy.

balth seems to be on a quest to interview everyone at Destructoid. First it was Niero, now it’s Bahamut Zero. I haven’t listened yet, but knowing Bahamut, I can only assume it was loltastic.

electro lemon has been playing a lot of AgentMOO’s game lately. If you’re interested in MOO’s game, check it out on lemon’s blog. Also, I died apparently.

Thornnn finally got his badass new computer from Velocity Micro! Of course he had to post more eye stabbing pictures with this post though.

Finally, lets take a look at the NARP party from this past weekend that Dyson and I had set up. There were Dtoid people and a bunch of industry people that all came out and hung out with everyone. ceark, topgeargorilla, Nihon Tiger, riomccarthy, Reaprar, Tactix, Teta, and DynamicSheep all blogged about the epicness that was had. I love this community so hard.

Speaking of NARPs, there are a few more that are in the planning stages taking place all over the world! Lark Ohiya is hosting one in Michigan, several people are setting up the next UK Narp, and a New York NARP is set to take place next moth. Hopefully these NARPs are streamed on Stickam! Speaking of which, we seriously need to bring back the Stickam rooms!

Happy Birthday to Blehman, Hitogoroshi and Cowzilla3.

So what do you all think of the new format? It will be a little more organized and cleaner by this weekends post. Also, this feature will fall on Sundays in the future after the ModernMethod Network post. All suggestions are more than welcome.
