Swing, spin, and… skateboard???
Some people instinctively kill all types of spiders, some go out of their way to catch and release them outside, and there’s probably a third type of folks who kind of just take stock of the critters, do a little “I see you” nod, and go about the rest of their day without even sweating it. Depending on where you fit in with these tendencies, you may or may not be open to Webbed, a platformer-adventure game coming soon to PC. I think it’s super cute!
As the trailer shows, Webbed is releasing on September 9 across Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store. This spider can skateboard, wear a tophat, and yes, freely swing around.
More than that, there’s the potential to spin webbing for puzzle-platformer traversal purposes, which looks really cool. Those mechanics — and the personality of some of the other insects, like a dancing moth — seem like the main draw. That and the laser eyes.
In Webbed the little spider can stack dung beetles using her laser eyes.
This isn't a useful skill, but she can do it.🕸️😌🕸️ pic.twitter.com/cPNsxdHoCo— 🍂Sbug Games🍂 (@sbuggames) June 2, 2021
If you liked the look of the release-date trailer for Webbed but need a bit more substance to go on (I was in the same boat), this extra footage should do the trick:

“Thanks again to everyone for your support over development,” said creator Sbug Games. “We still have a little bit to go, but we’re working hard to make sure Webbed is the best is can be.”
I’ll think about this game the next time I see a real-world spider doing its thing, which will be real soon given that I live in the Pacific Northwest. You can’t escape ’em.
