During Inti Creates’ BitSummit stream
In case you missed it, Inti Creates had a jam-packed Gunvolt announcement showcase last night as part of this year’s BitSummit festivities. In it they announced their newest project: Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2. But what about Azure Striker Gunvolt 3, the mainline entry? It’s still due for 2022, but it got narrowed down just a bit.
According to the stream (captured by Gematsu), Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is going to take “a little longer.” Although it did have a nebulous 2022 date to begin with, the statement implies that it was going to arrive sooner in the year; now, it’s slated for “summer 2022.” The team is “confident it will be an excellent game,” and intends to “continue [working] at this pace” to ensure that it does launch next summer.
Amazingly, the stream (which is in the Level 5comcept conference room) also features a blast from the past: Keiji Inafune. After the Mighty No. 9 and Red Ash (I never forgot) debacles he was in hiding a bit at Level 5, but he’s continued to work on the Azure Striker Gunvolt mainline games as both an executive producer and “action supervisor.”
In any case, Inafune is serving this series better than some of the more high-profile projects he’s been attached to in recent years.
