Nintendo of Europe has reduced the price of the Nintendo Switch base model in UK and European territories. The price cut is rolling out across retailers effective immediately and is, no doubt, being applied in preparation for the pricier Switch OLED model, which will hit the shelves next month.

“Nintendo of Europe is changing the European trade price of the Nintendo Switch console to retailers,” Nintendo confirmed to VGC. “More than four and a half years after its first release, Nintendo Switch continues to have strong sales momentum in Europe. After carefully weighing up a variety of factors, including currency exchange rates in Europe and the upcoming launch of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, we decided that now was the appropriate time to change the European trade price of Nintendo Switch.”

The base model Nintendo Switch now retails for £259.99 (down from £279.99) in the UK and €299.99 (down from €329.99) in Europe. The Switch Lite retail price remains unchanged at £199.99/€199.99. The new Nintendo Switch OLED model will retail for £309.99 in the UK and €349.99 in Europe when it launches, October 8, offering a crisp, 7-inch OLED screen, a slimmer bezel, an ethernet port, and a wider tabletop stand.

While the new prices are the official RRPs for the Switch base model, retailers may still set their own price point at sale, and thus those in the market for a regular Switch may be able to find one for cheaper still. Be a savvy shopper.
