My first response to this photo was “…..What…IS that?” If you doing the same, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised. The odd object you see above is actually concept art for a new version fo the PSP, drawn by artist Tai Chiem. It of coure has no basis in reality whatsoever, which is probably a good thing as I think it would look awkward to say the least in many a man’s front pocket.
The reason the screen is all floppy-like is that it is envisioned as a flexible OLED display. That’s definitely a cool idea, but I feel like the tube shape would be painful in the hands after a while. Of course, if you think of it as just art and not as a practical application, it’s pretty slick, but being a gamer I can’t not think of what actually playing with it would be like.
