Idiot Box
Do you remember, way back in 2020, before The Launch We Shall Not Speak Of, Netflix and CD Projekt RED announced a new anime series set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe? Well, remember it or not, Netflix is finally ready to start talking about it again, and will premiere new footage during June’s Geeked Week 2022 event.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 10-episode series from Studio Trigger, the anime veterans behind popular shows Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, and Star Wars: Visions. While we have heard very little from the tie-in TV show since Cyberpunk 2077 had its less-than-sparkling release, the original plot outline saw a young punk with nothing to lose divert his life into that of a cybersecurity mercenary, or “Edgerunner.”
Since then, we have heard little and seen nothing in regard to the new anime, so Geeked Week will provide the perfect opportunity for Netflix and Trigger to show off the sci-fi adventure, especially now that the furor behind Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch has, for the most part, died down entirely. In addition to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, fans will get to see new trailers, cast interviews, and reveals pertaining to other video game adaptations such as the live-action Resident Evil series and the second season of the unfortunately disappointing The Cuphead Show.
If you want to be there for all of the hot gossip on the above shows, not to mention the many other releases Netflix has lined up for its 2022-2023 season — including Stranger Things, The Sandman, Spiderhead, Umbrella Academy, and The Sea Beast — then be sure to tune into Geeked Week 2022, which will run from Monday, June 6 to Friday, June 10.
