Xbox signs up for Europe’s biggest gaming event
Xbox has confirmed that it will be in attendance for Gamescom 2022, which is scheduled to take place in Germany next month. The industry giant is expected to offer up further information regarding its upcoming hardware and software plans, focusing on the next wave of releases for the Xbox Series X platform.
“Following our recent Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, we’re excited to confirm that Xbox will be back on the show floor at Gamescom 2022 in Cologne, Germany,” wrote the company in this morning’s press release. “Fans in Europe and around the world can expect updates on some announced games coming to Xbox in the next 12 months.”
As noted, Gamescom 2022 will see the industry event return in a live capacity for the first time in two years, since the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the trade show to shift to an online model. Returning to its regular stomping ground of the Koelnmesse center in Cologne, Germany, Gamescom 2022 will offer attendees the opportunity to check out hundreds of upcoming releases on a multitude of platforms. Geoff Keighley will once again host an “Opening Night Live” stream to kick off the event.
While Xbox will be appearing on the show floor, both PlayStation and Nintendo have already confirmed that they will not be hosting booths at this year’s event. Since the pandemic shifted the balance of marketing mechanics, many publishers have chosen to highlight their products through their own channels, utilizing live streams and smaller, more localized events to demonstrate their upcoming releases.
Gamescom 2022 will take place in Cologne, Germany from August 24-28. You can find out more details about the hybrid event and its range of in-person and online activities over on the official website.
