Today THQ announced that Volition’s shooter Red Faction: Guerrilla and Vigil’s brawler Darksiders: Wrath of War have been delayed until the next financial year. This means neither of these titles may see the light of day until 2010.
Darksiders certainly has an interesting premise. The game will put players in the role of War, one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. Instead of delivering the human soul to the underworld, the game will allow players to fight wicked huge monsters with overgrown swords and high-powered ballistics. The video that we snagged at E3 should give you a better indication of what Vigil is shooting for.
As for Red Faction, we’ve always seen it as a nearly complete and promising title. My guess is that the holdup has something to do with money. I know — that’s a radical statement. But I’m a maverick and I say mavericky things.
Update: GameCyte is reporting that Red Faction will only be delayed by 8-10 weeks, which means it will land somewhere around March and June 2009.
