I’ve been looking so long at these pictures of ‘chu
The new generation of Pokemon is out. And once you’ve assembled your team in Pokemon Scarlet or Violet you’ll probably want to grab the camera and take a pic, right?
Well, good news. The camera isn’t something you’ll need to wait long to acquire. Once your mom gives you a Rotom Phone at the beginning of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet you can make use of the camera.
Just hit Down on the D-pad to access the camera interface. This puts the camera into first-person, straight-ahead mode.

From here, there’s a bevy of options to put together the perfect pic. To start, you can flip the camera to selfie mode by just hitting the Y Button. Turns out even the world of Pokemon knows the widescreen angle for selfies. Perfect for getting all your friends in one snap!
There are also some options for filters, which will let you add a blur, fish-eye lens, sepia, or other effect to your picture. Just use left and right on the D-pad to flip through these. Sadly, no Game Boy Camera filter just yet.
Plus, you can emote using up on the D-pad to access a menu of facial expression for selfies, as well as use down on the D-pad to focus your attention on the camera or not. Sadly, this does not seem to work for your Pokemon in the field. You might want to get set in the right spot quick if you want a selfie with your favorite new monster.
Use the right stick to aim and click in to reset it. And once everything looks good, hide the guide using the A button and then snap a pic with your screenshot button (just below the minus sign, on the left-hand side of the controller or left Joy-Con.
And just like that, you’re a Pokemon photographer! Use this power wisely, and soon your camera will be snapping all kinds of great shots in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. These images can also be used for your profile to make the perfect ID, so snap to your heart’s content.
