How to evolve Kirlia into Gallade in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

It’s easier than it seems

We’re back with another installment of a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet evolutionary guide: and this time we’re dealing with Gallade. The three-part evolutionary track is a bit confusing at first, but there’s a few things you need to keep in mind.

Find a Ralts, Kirlia, or Gallade in the wild (all of them appear)

So you have a few options here. You can just find a Ralts, Kirlia, or Gallade using the locations in the gallery above (Kirlia are typically scattered around the far west and east coasts). In my experience, the hilltop lighthouse on the west coast has more Kirlia spawns.

You can also use an existing Ralts (or catch one). Just level your Ralts to 20, and it’ll evolve into a Kirlia. Note that you want the Ralts to be male if you’re going for a Gallade (its female counterpart will evolve into a Gardevoir at level 30). Options!

As an aside, there is no version exclusivity for any of these Pokemon.

If you want to do it yourself, use a Dawn Stone on a male Kirlia to get a Gallade

There’s only one way to evolve a Kirlia into a Gallade: it needs to be male, and you need to use a Dawn Stone. Luckily, we have a guide for locating Dawn Stones right here.

There is no level requirement: just have a male Kirlia, give it a Dawn Stone from the game’s inventory menu, and it’ll evolve. Gallade is a psychic fighting type, and will gain slash when you evolve it.
