Rebirth Island could be arriving in Warzone 2.0 soon
Call of Duty Warzone 2.0’s initial Al Mazrah map won’t be alone for too much longer. Warzone 2.0 Resurgence will feature a brand new map that will replace Rebirth Island, known as Ashika Island.

When the new Rebirth Island map arrives, it will likely offer players a smaller-scale game mode.
If the original Warzone Resurgence is anything to go by, though, the map will have a smaller set of players. Teams will have a certain number of respawns they can use before they are eliminated from the lobby. This is contrary to normal battle royale where you generally have a single life, outside of the Gulag and redeployment.
As for when players will finally get their hands on Warzone 2.0’s Resurgence mode, it will be in Season 2. Warzone 2.0 Season 2 will drop on February 15, 2023, after a two-week delay. Players can also expect other additional content in Season 2, including five new weapons, cosmetics, and maps for the core Modern Warfare II multiplayer side.
Resurgence was one of my favorite game modes in the original Warzone. The prospect of its return is even more exciting for me than the current Al Mazrah map and even the rebranded Warzone Caldera game.
Warzone 2.0 Ashika Island Resurgence map, explained
The small-scale island of Ashika Island will be the setting for the respawn-centric battle royale mode, plus a new setting for DMZ, when Warzone 2.0 Season 2 drops.
This new location is roughly 30 percent larger than all of the past Resurgence maps. This new Resurgence mode will offer all team modes, including solos, duos, trios, and quads.
Among the seven points of interest on Ashika Island, a familiar locale for long-term Call of Duty fans will appear: Castle. Originating from Treyarch’s World at War, Castle is set in Okinawa, Japan — where Ashika Island is presumably set — and features a heavily stylized fenced-in estate. This might seem odd, given that Castle recently enjoyed a remastered version in 2021’s Call of Duty Vanguard.
On the new Resurgence island map, Castle will slightly change its name and design into the new and improved Tsuki Castle. Joining the centralized Tsuki Castle are six other core POIs on Ashika Island: Oganikku Farms, Residential, Town Center, Shipwreck, Beach Club, and Port Ashika.
In addition to those main areas, there are other minor unnamed locations where players can land, including the island apartments, sea wall, and more.
Matches will involve unlimited respawns for teams, so long as one teammate is alive, until the final segment of the map. Then it is a final free-for-all to determine the final squad standing.
