Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II is shaping up to be another face-rockingly solid entry in the acclaimed real-time strategy series, but as evidenced by past debacles, a game is only as good as the DRM attached to it.
During an interview with VideoGamer, associate producer for Dawn of War II Jeff Lydell offered encouraging words about Relic’s search for DRM saying, “We want [consumers] to be able to play it with their friends, and most importantly we want any authentication to not be annoying or a detriment to the experience.”
As to what extent the potential Dawn of War II DRM will limit the number of times you can install the game, Lydell said that to his knowledge, there won’t be an installation limit. Period.
He concluded by saying, “When you have a multiplayer component or content that can be distributed through online there’s an incentive to be a licensed user,” which I think many of the deviants in the audience cannot help but agree with.
