Denuvo causing severe performance issues for Hogwarts Legacy on PC
It should be news to absolutely no one that Denuvo is up to its usual antics, primarily being only slightly short of a complete technical catastrophe for those attempting to play Hogwarts Legacy on PC. This unbelievable and unforgivable curse has already severely reduced the quality of the overall gameplay experience for many players on PC. With developer Avalanche Software and publisher WB Games dragging their heels on a day-one patch, it remains unclear how long this issue will persist before being reduced in scope, let alone eliminated outright. Denuvo has a long history of turning even otherwise well-optimized AAA games into barely-functional nightmares, and its inclusion in any new release generally proves wildly unpopular.
Until WB Games does an about-face and removes Denuvo, or at the very least goes out of its way to overhaul Hogwarts Legacy with a slew of optimization improvements to offset the demand Denuvo places on players’ computers, players should be wary of purchasing the PC version of the game. This applies to versions found on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. While the Epic Games Store chooses not to mandate disclosure regarding whether a game does or doesn’t include third-party software, WB Games has confirmed that Denuvo is included in the installation of Hogwarts Legacy regardless of which digital retailer players buy it from.
PlayStation sweetens the deal with PS5 Exclusive “Haunted Hogsmeade Shop” quest
With the inclusion of an exclusive “Haunted Hogsmeade Shop” side quest, which introduces a new horror-themed narrative involving the player exploring the depths of, you guessed it, a haunted shop in the wizarding village of Hogsmeade, and defending themselves against possessed mannequins and making their way through an enchanted dungeon, the PlayStation 5 port already is a tempting sell. However, when you consider the aforementioned fact that the PC version is barely meeting even the lowest expectations of many users by comparison, it’s hard not to say that this is one of those few modern instances where the PC port is dramatically inferior to its console brethren.
