The map is surprisingly forthright
Hogwarts Legacy seems insurmountable at first with all its reagents and item types, but it’s actually pretty manageable once you see the full list of what the game actually has available. Troll Bogeys are one such ingredient that you’ll need to brew potions (Invisibility Potions in particular) or complete quests. Here’s where to find them.
Troll dens are visible on the world map
Troll dens are marked with a den icon. At first it’ll look just like a regular cave (where you might find treasure), but upon closer inspection, it varies slightly (the other cave icon has more lines in the middle, whereas the Troll cave has a hollow center). Look for icons labeled “Troll Lair” while browsing the map.
All you need to do is head to one of these and take out the Troll to loot Troll Bogeys. Then, leave the area, and rest several times to reset the den. Rinse and repeat. If you have Avada Kedavra, farming Trolls will be even easier.
Here are a few more Troll den sto get you started
The southwest area of Feldcroft (near Rockwood Castle) is a perfect place to farm for Troll Bogeys. There are two dens very close together that you can fly into, clear out, and reset.
You can choose to farm multiple dens, farm one den, or go on a “route” that farms multiple between resets. The choice is yours!
You can also buy Troll Bogeys from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade
If you just need a few Troll Bogeys and don’t want to go hunting for them, buying them for 100 gold (galleons) each from J. Pippin’s potion shop is an option.
