An easy dungeon with huge rewards
Seat of the Water Sprite is an optional dungeon in Octopath Traveler 2. It can be found on the right side the Borderfall zone, located on the eastern continent. Climb down the ladders near the bridge, hop on your boats at the dock, and look for the cave hiding behind the waterfall.
Overall, Seat of the Water Sprite is an easy dungeon. Though Borderfall itself has a Danger Level of 33, this watery dungeon only ranks at level 26. Additionally, there is no boss battle waiting for you. There’s practically no reason to skip this dungeon once you find it, but you can still take a few steps to ensure your exploration goes smoothly. Here’s what you should look for.
What to bring for Seat of the Water Sprite
The golden rule of the Octopath Traveler series is to bring the weapon and magic types you need to break enemies. Seat of the Water Sprite can potentially get you stuck if your party composition isn’t varied, but the odds of this happening are low. A Hunter/Warrior hybrid will be capable of breaking every enemy in this dungeon. In other words, Hikari or Ochette with an appropriate secondary job equipped should cover all your bases by themselves.
Many enemies here are weak to lightning magic, though there are some enemies a Scholar can’t break here. What can I say, physical attackers dominate this game. Otherwise, there isn’t too much else to say here. If you’re underleveled, try clearing other story objectives before venturing into here. Though, again, if you were ready to travel through Borderfall, you should be good here too.
Find a Blessing in Disguise in Seat of the Water Sprite!
Even though Seat of the Water Sprite is a relatively easy dungeon, it still has some very valuable items hidden inside it. Near the right side of the area, you’ll find a red chest with the Blessing in Disguise accessory inside. Blessing in Disguise is a fantastic item that turns all negative stat values on equipment into positive stat values. Combine this with a Rosary of Redemption and you have a hefty +60 Phys. Atk and Critical accessory on your hands. Blessing in Disguise also synergizes extraordinarily well with cursed armor and weapons that you’ll find later in the game.
Otherwise, the most important item to grab is the Rusty Staff. You’ll need this to create a Divine Weapon later in the game, so grab this chest now to save time later. The chest in question is located on a circular platform at the center of the dungeon, which you should see shortly after you enter. Wrap around to the rear end of the map and you’ll see a ladder leading down to the water. Climb down and continue on the path in front of you. This will take you directly to the chest with the Rusty Staff inside.
There are a few other goodies you can find here, such as the Enlightening Bracelet. Once you’ve explored the area to your heart’s content, exit and continue with your journey. There isn’t any particular reason why you’d want to return here later, so leave this place behind and don’t look back.
