Rumortoid: Microsoft CES keynote will bore gamers to tears

Recommended Videos

First and foremost, CES — which takes place in Las Vegas later this week — is not a gaming show. Sure, there will be gaming-related things happening there (like the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, for instance), but it’s not a games-centric show.

So despite Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer heading up its keynote this year, we aren’t expecting much. But we certainly expect a little something more than him name-checking Halo Wars and Halo ODST for the Xbox 360.

According to numerous online reports (including this one over at Gamertag Radio), Ballmer won’t be pulling out the big guns this year. If this Internet word is truth, expect talk about Windows 7 entering public beta, Windows Mobile finally supporting Flash, and some crap about home networking. Oh, and did you know Halo Wars and Halo ODST are coming out this year? Yup.

Whatever the case, we’ll be there. I hop on a plane Wednesday morning, revved up and ready to listen to whatever Ballmer has to say … even if it’s not about a Zune that controls the weather and plays Xbox LIVE Arcade games. There’s always next year.
