Amazon is offering an early access demo with pre-orders for Sony Bend’s PlayStation Portable title, Resistance: Retribution through January 12. A demo isn’t exactly a headband, but this should be quite the treat for those excited about Retribution and its connectivity with Insomniac’s Resistance 2.
The connectivity was officially revealed at TGS this year. Anyone with a copy of R2 and Retribution will have access to a special mode called “Infected.” As we already know from E3, the protagonist in Retribution is a normal guy – he doesn’t have the Chimeran virus like Nathan Hale does in the PlayStation 3 titles. The mode gives Grayson the virus and the perks that come with it, but it also drastically alters the way the game unfolds. The cut-scenes, gameplay, and visuals all change.
The other connectivity feature is called “PSP Plus” and will allow players to play Retribution with a PS3 controller. Both modes require a USB cable to connect the PSP to the PS3, and the two modes can be unlocked in R2’s option menu.
This is pretty exciting stuff. I haven’t used my PSP for anything other than Loco Roco and a coaster for guests since I got it. It’ll be nice to have an excuse to use my PSP and the PS3’s connectivity. Is anyone here going to bite on this Amazon deal?
