How many Korok Seeds are in Tears of the Kingdom?

There’s more than in Breath of the Wild

One of the most infamous parts of Breath of the Wild were the Korok Seeds you could collect. For fans of this collectathon side quest, there are many more of them to find in Tears of the Kingdom.

In fact, there are even more of these strange and smelly collectible items than ever before, adding plenty of content and possibly frustration to the latest Zelda title.

How many Korok Seeds are in Tears of the Kingdom?

In 2017’s ground-breaking Breath of the Wild, there were 900 Korok Seeds for you to find all over Hyrule. In its 2023 sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, that number has increased to a grand total of 1000 Korok Seeds.

However, the hunt for the Korok Seeds in this game isn’t as stressful as you might think. Since some of the new Korok methods reward you with two Korok Seeds at once, you only need to complete a healthy 900 activities to 100% this part of the game. Because of this, it’s basically on par with how much work you had to put into Breath of the Wild to collect them.

All the ways to earn Korok Seeds, explained

As mentioned, there are some new ways to unlock Korok Seeds in Tears of the Kingdom. Here are the different puzzles you will solve to find Korok Seeds in Tears of the Kingdom:

  • Korok friends puzzles: You’ll often run across a Korok with a backpack who needs help reaching their friend. You usually have to use Ultrahand and possibly a makeshift vehicle to help reunite the poor Korok with their pal. This type of activity gives you two Korok Seeds as a reward.
  • Missing rocks or other puzzle pieces. You’ll occasionally find a circle of rocks or other random patterns with one missing that you need to use Ultrahand to complete.
  • Target practice. There are random balloons you can shoot using arrows to unlock a Korok Seed.
  • There are plants that disappear, which if you interact with, can lead you to a Korok Seed.
  • Petal paths that you can follow in the wind to reach a Korok.
  • Suspicious rocks that you need to pick up.
  • Time trials.
  • Diving practice.

You can unlock the Korok Mask at the Forest Coliseum in The Depths to help with locating these items. Like before, if you find enough Korok Seeds, you can upgrade your sword, shield, and bow inventory. Furthermore, if you happen to find all 1000 Korok Seeds, you’ll earn Hestu’s smelly and disappointing reward. On the plus side, you can also watch the Korok leader dance anytime.
