Improve your healing in Final Fantasy XVI
As you level up in Final Fantasy XVI, your HP grows but your potions may dwindle as you face tougher foes. Thankfully, you can upgrade your potions in Final Fantasy XVI far into the game. After a few time jumps and major bosses defeated, at any rate.
Here’s how to upgrade your potions in Final Fantasy XVI.
When can you upgrade your potions in Final Fantasy XVI?
After finishing the Into The Darkness main scenario mission and into the Out of the Shadow quest, you’ll be able to speak to Nigel, who will upgrade your potions. He’s located in The Backyard at The Hideaway. It’s the most northwestern section of the facility. If you’re going down some stairs with greenery and plants all over, you know you’re in the right direction.
Go directly forward from the staircase, and you’ll see a man with a brown shirt and a green hat. This is Nigel, the Head Botanist!
How to finish The Root of the Problem quest
Nigel tasks you with finding morganbeards from northern Rosaria. He recommends you check out the marshlands.
Go to the World Map and head to the Martha’s Rest fast travel point. Now, look at the map, and you should see a green area with a + sign to the west of Sorrowise and north of Galidemond Abbey. Run on over to this location. As you enter this green space on the map, you’ll encounter some Goblins in the area. Take them out to the best of your ability. The Gigas Ploughswain can hit hard, so try to avoid its attacks as much as possible, hopefully with a Precision Dodge.
Once they’re dealt with, look for patches of yellow flowers. Pick them up by holding the cross button. Once Clive’s had his fill of goblins and picked up three sets of flowers, head back to The Hideaway and speak with Nigel.
After he’s extracted the essence from the petals, your potions in Final Fantasy XVI have now been upgraded. Your potions and high potions now give you more HP. Additionally, the Strength, Stoneskin, and Lionheart tonics will last longer. You’ll be able to upgrade these potions and tonics even further later on in the story with the Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol quest. That unlocks after completing the Like Father, Like Daughter mission.
