Don’t battle the Root alone
It’s finally here and the time to battle the Root is now. Remnant 2 can be pretty challenging at times, so it’s definitely understandable that you may not want to tackle it alone.
Furthermore, some of the starter classes can feel like they focus on co-op play. The Medic can heal others, and the Hunter benefits most from being able to blast enemies from afar. Therefore, it’s very understandable to wonder: Is Remnant 2 multiplayer?
Remnant 2 is multiplayer
Don’t worry, you won’t have to tackle this threat alone. Remnant 2 is indeed multiplayer, and there are many reasons for doing so. First off, the game feels like it’s meant to be experienced in a co-op setting. As a solo player you can quickly find yourself overwhelmed by enemies or unable to put some needed distance between you and a foe. Also, some of the skills you will unlock are clearly designed around a team, not a solo player.
Perhaps the best aspect of playing with a friend is being able to revive them. When playing solo, you respawn at the nearest Red Crystal on death. In multiplayer, you are instead incapacitated and can be revived by a friend and jump right back into the action.
Despite Remnant 2 being on many platforms, there is no cross-platform support at this time. Therefore, make sure any friends you are trying to play with purchase the game on the same platform.
How to play multiplayer in Remnant 2
You will unlock multiplayer in Remnant 2 very early in the game. After creating your character you will go through a brief intro and find yourself in Ward 13. Once there, you will unlock your first Red Crystal.
At this Red Crystal, you will find the option to Join Game. This opens up the multiplayer settings where you can team up with friends or even join a Quick Match which throws you in a game with a random player based on your chosen parameters.
How many players is Remnant 2?
Multiplayer in Remnant 2 can support up to three people in total. If you are playing as the Handler archetype, don’t worry: your dog doesn’t count as a player.
It’s important to note that as your party size increases, so does the difficulty. Remnant 2 uses a scaling difficulty system that automatically scales up and down as players join and leave the game.
