I miss Club Nintendo, but My Nintendo is the new reality. Gone are the days of elaborate statues for physical rewards, and annual loyalty bonuses (which, most of the time, ruled!). That said, My Nintendo does surprise us from time to time, and lately, they’ve been cooking up a ton of rewards to coincide with the summer release calendar. With all of the Zelda, Kirby, and Pikmin rewards on the My Nintendo marketplace at the moment, I figured it was worth reminding people that yes: your points do expire. Here’s how to do a quick scan and see when everything will fall off.
How to check when your My Nintendo points are expiring
- Head to the My Nintendo website
- Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click on the “point summary” link
- At the top of the screen, look for the “points expiration” link and click that
From there, you’ll be able to see an itemized rolling total of when all of your points are going to expire month-to-month. That includes Platinum points, as well as individualized mobile game points.
This is an important screen to check every so often (I just did it and splurged on the new Pikmin rewards!), as you’ll want to dump points into rewards if they’re going to expire at the end of the month anyway. It’s a sneaky way for Nintendo to create point churn, and prevent folks from just playing through Fire Emblem Heroes, amassing thousands of points, and saving them for big-ticket rewards.
