Remnant 2, like many other games before it, has a tutorial that you’ll need to breeze through before the game actually starts. In this day and age it can be a hindrance for starting off a multiplayer game with a crew out of the gate: especially if you’re heading back home from a hard day’s work and just want to get to it. The good news is that Remnant 2‘s tutorial isn’t too taxing, or long. Here’s a quick rundown of what happens (spoiler-free!) so you can get right to business.
Here’s how the Remnant 2 tutorial plays out
- You’ll start off in a ruined town (very similar to a scene from the firstĀ Remnant game) and a companion, who will provide a bit of chatter as you learn the basics
- After entering a warehouse you’ll pick up your first healing item, and learn how to sprint, aim, shoot, and dodge
- You’ll meet up with a small group and escape the area, then battle a miniboss (the Root Mantis)
- After the enemy is taken out, you’ll head to a hub area, where you can apply your first trait/work on your build – you can spend as much time as you want here, or start the main quest and pick an archetype (Medic, Hunter, Challenger, Handler, Gunslinger)
- From there you’ll have the ability to test out your archetype and begin the main questline – speak to Ford at the gate, and he’ll lead you into a room with a crystal – after the cutscene, multiplayer is enabled
From this point on, you’ll startĀ Remnant 2 properly. All in all, this process takes roughly 15-20 minutes to complete if you skip the several cutscenes that appear.

Where is Wallace in Remnant 2?
If you’re having issues finding Wallace so you can get on with the story and get out of the hub, they’re located in the southwest corner of the map, all alone. If you need further assistance finding any NPC, you can highlight them on the map. The mouse will allow you to move the cursor freely, and you can click the left analog stick to create a cursor on a controller.
