Remnant 2 is full of cool little secrets that can further enhance the gameplay. In the world of Yaesha, you may come across a special shop called the Bloodmoon Altar. Unfortunately, you will discover that a crafting material called Blood Moon Essence is required to purchase anything from this special shop.
Thankfully, we have everything you need to know on how to obtain this material and how to farm Blood Moon Essence in Remnant 2.
How to trigger a Blood Moon
In order to obtain Blood Moon Essence, you first need to trigger a Blood Moon in Yaesha. Like many things in Remnant 2, triggering the Blood Moon is a bit random. Basically anytime you spawn into a new instance of Yaesha, it has a chance to have the Blood Moon event going on.
It’s easy to tell when the Blood Moon is active because the world of Yaesha will have a reddish-pinkish hue to it. You can also look up at the sky and see the Blood Moon like in the above screenshot.
If the event is inactive, there’s an easy way to try again. Go to the Red Checkpoint Crystal and visit another world like N’Erud or Losomn. Then, teleport back to a region in Yaesha and the world will be reset, and therefore possibly trigger the Blood Moon event. If not, simply repeat the process until it is active. I’ve found teleporting into the Forbidden Grove region of Yaesha to be the easiest to tell if it’s active.
How to farm Blood Moon Essence in Remnant 2
Once you’re in an instance of Yaesha that has the Blood Moon active, it’s time to start farming. Look around the area for small pink orb-like Wisps flying around. You can typically find them in groups flying around the wooden huts across Yaesha. Shoot these Wisps and you will see a pinkish object fly towards your character and grant you a single Blood Moon Essence. Thankfully, you can kill the Wisps with one shot. Therefore, you can easily take out a group of these and farm some easy Blood Moon Essence.
After a while you may notice there are no more pink Wisps flying around. Don’t worry, there’s actually a little trick you can do to reset them and farm them some more. Simply enter one of the golden fog gates that take you to another area. Then, turn around and head back into the area you were farming them, and you should see they respawned. However, make sure you do not interact with a Red Checkpoint Crystal. Doing so will reset the phase of the world you are in and will remove the Blood Moon event.
It’s important to note that the event will not last forever. After some time the Blood Moon will fade and the event will end. There appears to be an internal timer before the event can occur again, so if you aren’t able to farm all the Blood Moon Essence you need in one go, you may have to do something else while waiting for the next Blood Moon.
What is Blood Moon Essence used for?
Blood Moon Essence is a special crafting material used exclusively at the Bloodmoon Altar in Yaesha. The most important item of note is the Faded Grimoire. The Faded Grimoire can be used to craft the Tome of the Bringer at the NPC Wallace in Ward 13. With this item you will be able to unlock the secret Summoner archetype.
The full Knotted armor set is also available at the Bloodmoon Altar. This armor set is the starting gear when you create a character with the Summoner archetype. It has a fair amount of armor but the true strength of this set is its Toxin resistance. With the full set, you will have 15 Toxin resistance making you quite impervious to Acidic and Toxic attacks. There’s also a nice amulet for the Summoner archetype that increases the damage of your summons.
Finally, there is a ring that prevents Root Rot which can definitely come in handy when fighting Root monsters in particular.
