Things get a little shaky early on in the UC Vanguard questline in Starfield. On one side, you have pirates. The other? Voracious alien monsters. It’s not easy being a space cop. For the latter, you enter a quest where you run into a surly bar owner giving you a quiz. If you’re having trouble with the answers to Lou in Starfield, such as the meaning of the Vanguard motto, then look no further.
Lou the bartender gives you the dressing down as part of the ‘Delivering Devils’ mission for the Vanguard. It follows the mission ‘Grunt Work’, in which a routine check turned into a battle against a Terrormorph. Now that things have officially turned up to 11, you need to track down someone who can help: Percival Walker. Finding him isn’t so easy, though. You end up in Cydonia, Mars to follow the clues. The first stop is at the Trade Authority, where Walker used to work. He’s no longer employed there, and he owes money. You get directed to a bar in the lower levels of Cydonia, where you meet with the one and only Lou.
All Lou answers in Starfield – What is the Vanguard motto?
The bartender Lou can put you back on the path to find Walker, but first you need to pass his test. Since this is a military bar, Lou is prepared with questions only Vanguard members can answer. Here are the questions and answers for Lou in Starfield, including the meaning of the Vanguard motto:
What does the Vanguard motto ‘Supra et Ultra’ mean?
- It’s in Latin and means “Above and Beyond.”
“What grade did you get on your entrance exam? A? C? D-plus?“
- Answer: “The Vanguard entrance exam isn’t graded like that.”
That’s right, he only asks two questions. Apparently the Vanguard book of knowledge is more of a pamphlet.
What happens if you choose the wrong answers?
If you choose the wrong answers, nothing of serious consequence happens. Lou smugly exclaims he knew you were “full of it” from the start won’t help. But then he just… does help, so long as you pressure him a little bit. No matter what, you won’t get walled off from continuing the quest.
