Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has entered the second weekend of its online beta, where players on any available platform can come together and enjoy the shooter. The October 12 weekend brings new maps and modes for players to try early.
Estate and Rust are still playable, and the second weekend brings both Orlov Military Base and Highrise to the rotation. But what about the modes? Search and Destroy is coming to the MW3 beta, according to Activision, though you may not see it right away.
Search & Destroy is, of course, a legacy mode in the Call of Duty franchise. Arriving with the original Call of Duty in 2003, Search & Destroy has continued to be a popular attraction for fans. As part of the MW3 dual-weekend betas, players expected to see the mode arrive for the cross-play beta that started at 10 a.m. PST on October 12. However, some have reported that the mode isn’t available, and are left scratching their heads.
Update: October 13, 2023
According to the official Sledgehammer Games Twitter account, the Search and Destroy game mode is now available to play in the MW3 Beta. It’s joined by the new map, Orlov Military Base.
Is Search and Destroy not available in the MW3 beta this weekend?
While it’s strange to hear that the mode is not available right now, Search and Destroy should arrive in the MW3 beta sometime soon. Today’s patch notes made a mention of the mode, saying players can “see the [the new maps and modes] throughout the weekend.”
Here is what’s getting added to the beta, according to Activision:
- Maps
- Highrise
- [NEW] Orlov Military Base (Ground War)
- Modes
- [NEW] Cutthroat
- Search & Destroy
When will it be available?
Currently, we don’t know when the mode will join MW3. The best way to keep up on any and all beta updates is by following the official Activision Support account on Twitter.
Other than the beta, Warzone 2 Season 6 has kicked off with the new DOOM bundle and Alucard operator skin.
