All this sneaking around, and for what?

If you’re looking for the equivalent of the Thieves Guild in Starfield, Ryujin Industries is it. The faction blends the Thieves Guild and Assassin’s Guild together, all with a healthy dash of corporate espionage. As an agent of Ryujin, you sneak, manipulate, extort, and infiltrate, and hopefully gain access to the executive toilet in the end. But will you? Here are the Ryujin Industries questline and rewards in Starfield.

Joining Ryujin is effortless. If you spot the red kiosk while visiting New Atlantis, give it a look. The Ryujin kiosk offers an application to join the company’s ranks. No matter what you do, it’s easy to get an interview with an executive over at its HQ in Neon Core on Volii Alpha. Once there, head up the elevator and chat with Imogene Salzo. It’s time to get sneaky.

Tips for succeeding at the Ryujin questline:

  • Spend at least one skill point in:
    • Persuasion
    • Stealth
    • Security (for lockpicking Advanced locks)
  • The pickpocket ability (Theft skill) is useful, but not necessary
  • Purchase a suit to boost Persuasion from the Ryujin lobby merchant
  • Buy plenty of digipicks
  • Craft or purchase Reconstim, which grants 30% movement noise reduction for 10 minutes
  • Be very liberal with the quicksave option
  • Do not bring companions on stealth missions since they can be spotted by guards
    • An exception may be with Andreja, who has four points in Stealth

Ryujin Industries questline missions

  • Back to the Grind
    • A simple task: Go retrieve a coffee order for Imogene and try not to get shot by a disgruntled former employee. It’s a fateful encounter, and he may return later (hint, hint).
  • One Step Ahead
    • Your first real mission for Imogene. Sneak into CeltCorp and upload a program onto a computer terminal.
  • A New Narrative
    • Time to go to Akila City and dump some shady files in an office within Laredo Firearms.
  • Access is Key
    • This mission sends you to HopeTech, The Clinic, or Gagarin Landing to acquire a Security Keycard. It seems random. Regardless, use persuasion to get the card. If that fails, try to pickpocket the target if you have the skill.
  • Sowing Discord
    • Manipulate two executives against signing onto a deal.
  • Accidents Happen
    • Travel to HopeTech and plant a device inside a ship amid construction.
  • Maintaining the Edge
    • Head to Trident Luxury Lines Staryard to access a chest and steal away with a schematic.
  • Top Secrets
    • You’re making a splash, and now you get to meet your boss’ boss, Ularu Chen. She sends you on a new task that takes you to Cydonia, Mars to acquire files on Project Dominion. Things are about to get wild.
  • Background Checks
    • After gaining the Dominion files, it’s revealed that Ryujin has a mole at the high-end level. Meet up with a hacker and then sneak into Ryujin Tower. Run a program on Ularu’s computer and bug out without getting seen.
  • Guilty Parties
    • J’accuse! Your work during Background Checks has revealed Imogene as the traitorous the mole. Or is she? Track her down within the Seokguh Syndicate hideout and demand the truth — or take her out permanently.
  • The Key Ingredient
    • Ryujin needs to finish developing its Internal Neuroamp technology, but something has gone awry. A shipment of rothicite hasn’t arrived and you need to head to the mine and find out why.
  • (Optional) Managing Assets
    • Based on how you played Guilty Parties, you can access this hidden optional mission. The job: Find and eliminate a former colleague.
  • Sabotage
    • The ultimate stealth mission. Infiltrate Infinity Ltd. headquarters in New Atlantis, run a program on two computers, and steal the company’s Neuroamp prototype. And do it without getting caught or shedding blood. Good luck.
  • Executive Level
    • Convince the Ryujin executive board to vote on both acquiring Infinity Ltd. and supporting Internal Neuroamp technology.

What are your rewards?

Unlike with the Crimson Fleet questline, Ryujin Industries rewards are kind of meager despite being one of the most challenging factions in Starfield. You get your usual smattering of credits and experience points, but the most significant reward doesn’t come until nearly the very end. And it’s just okay.

You get the Operative Stealth Suit at the start of the mission, Sabotage. It’s a skin-tight, black outfit that grants a permanent 25% reduction in movement noise. It would have been just super to have this in Background Checks, but whatever.

While you don’t gain access to the executive toilet, you do get your own office after completing Executive Level. The office also has a mission board in case you’re not sick to death of stealth missions. I know I am.
