In Diablo 4 Season 2, Blizzard has changed a lot of the leveling process. For example, values of experience gained from monsters alone have been buffed across the board. Also, most other methods of exp gains such as Whispers, Grim Favors, and even Helltide Events have increased as well. But that’s not all. A big change to how experience modifiers work has made it so the modifiers now stack multiplicative instead of additively. Therefore, Season of Blood should be much quicker to level in as opposed to Season of the Malignant. But is it more worthwhile to play in World Tier 1 or World Tier 2 for leveling in Diablo 4 Season 2? This guide goes over each World Tier as well as when you should switch between the two.
Should you start in World Tier 1 or World Tier 2 in Diablo 4 Season 2?
At the very beginning, after you have created your new seasonal character and logged into Season of Blood, it’s recommended that you start on World Tier 1. Yes, I know, World Tier 2 gives you 20% more Experience and Gold. But in my experience when you are first starting, with no gear, you will take a lot longer to kill enemies on World Tier 2 than you will on World Tier 1. So by that logic, it’s faster to just play on World Tier 1 and kill more enemies as opposed to spending more time killing enemies just for 20% more experience.
Of course, as you level up and gain more Skill Points and gear, eventually it’s worthwhile to switch World Tiers.
When should you switch to World Tier 2 in Diablo 4 Season 2?
The easy answer here is once you are one-shotting things on World Tier 1, it’s probably worthwhile to switch to World Tier. The more technical answer is that as long as it’s not taking you more than 20% longer to kill enemies, it’s probably worthwhile to switch to World Tier 2. But who wants to take the time to do all that math?
In my opinion, the easiest universal answer on when it’s best to switch to World Tier 2 is around Level 20-25. At this point, you will have completed your Class Quest. (20 for Druid, Barbarian, Sorceress and Rogue. 25 for Necromancer) If you were leveling optimally you’ll also have all the dungeon-granted Legendary Aspect codex powers you need. As such, this ist typically a good time to switch to World Tier 2 and still kill things quickly.
What level should you switch to World Tier 3 and World Tier 4 in Diablo 4 Season of Blood?
You will want to complete the World Tier 2 Capstone Dungeon and then switch to World Tier 3 at Level 48. At this point, you should be transitioning into your End-Game build. You should also have most of the critical things needed to make your build work. You will be able to kill things just as quickly on World Tier 3 as you are on World Tier 2. So, why not get extra experience for doing so?
Then, you want to switch to World Tier 4 around Level 65-68. Make sure you complete all of your Renown tasks before doing so, as they are harder on World Tier 4. From here on you are finally in the true end game of Diablo 4 Season 2!
Now that you know if World Tier 1 or World Tier 2 is better for leveling in Diablo 4 Season 2, you should have an easier time getting to Level 100!
