Medals are scattered throughout Sonic Superstars. You can find them hidden in stages or rewarded at an Act’s completion. But what if that’s too slow? This is a Sonic game, after all, and we’re all about going fast here. You can earn those shiny gold Medals fast in Sonic Superstars, and here’s how to do it.
You can earn Medals fast in Sonic Superstars by collecting rings and entering Special Stages. There are a handful of Special Stages to play in the game, and they can all reward you with up to three to five Medals each. Keep in mind: The Special Stages get harder as you complete them, so be ready for an increasing challenge.
Best ways to earn Medals fast in Sonic Superstars
Sonic Swing
The Sonic Swing stage, as we’re calling it, can be entered via the giant, floating blue rings found in Acts. These rings are usually scattered throughout each Act and don’t have a special requirement to enter. You just need to find a blue ring and jump into it. In Sonic Swing, you play as Spider-Sonic and use blue and yellow orbs to swing forward while chasing a Medal icon. You start with 30 seconds to get the Medal, but can earn more seconds by collecting rings. Orange arrows will rocket you forward, but watch out for the bombs. Grabbing the Medal icon rewards you with five Medals.
Rotating Maze
Shout out to you aging Sonic fans (I’m counting myself)! The Rotating Maze is back. It’s very similar to the Special Stage in the original Sonic the Hedgehog and is navigated the same way. The maze slowly rotates in a direction as your character is pulled down by gravity. You can jump and move around to progress. The ‘R’ icon changes the direction of the rotation. Touching the ‘UP’ icon speeds up the rotation, while the ‘DOWN’ icon slows it. There are three mazes. Grabbing the Medal from one takes you to the next maze.
The Rotating Maze stage can reward you with up to three Medals, but watch out for the glowing red bits — those end the stage. You can enter the Rotating Maze special stage by touching an Act checkpoint while holding at least 50 rings. When you do, hop into the portal that appears above it.
Collect 100 Rings
You earn a Medal for every 100 rings you collect in Sonic Superstars. That may not sound fast, but the game does not shy away from dumping hundreds of rings on you per stage. More than once I found myself reaching the Act boss with more than 300 rings. That’s three Medals, right there.
Other ways to collect Medals
There are other methods for collect Medals in Sonic Superstars, but they’re not very fast. You can find Medals hidden throughout the stages, for example. If you have a piece of Fruit, you can also play through Act Fruit to get up to five Medals. Earning the Fruit is slow, however.
Where do you spend Medals?
Medals are exchanged for mech parts and colors in the Sonic Superstars Shop. The parts can be equipped to your personal mech, which you play as in the Battle Mode. Some parts are cheap, running for 20 or 30 Medals, while others are higher up at 200.
