Spider-Man 2 brings many improvements over its predecessor, including the ability to switch between Miles and Peter as your protagonist. These aren’t the only moments you control someone other than Peter Parker, and this guide will list them all. Be warned that there are spoilers ahead.
Peter Parker
Peter Parker, who is the original friendly neighborhood hero, won’t be a stranger to anyone. In Spider-Man 2, you control Peter as he assumes his role as New York’s protector, and this time around he has his hands full dealing with Kraven the Hunter.
Peter still has his personal life to worry about, however. He is still reeling from the events of the first game and has to juggle his superhero responsibilities with his job and his relationship with MJ. He cheers up when he receives a visit from Harry, who is an old friend of his. Harry has a secret that he eventually reveals to Peter, sparking a chaotic chain of events.
Miles Morales
Miles Morales is the younger Spider-Man, and like Peter, he was bitten by a radioactive spider. He has many of the same powers Peter has, except he also has a few electricity-based moves and the ability to camouflage.
Miles has a lot to juggle in Spider-Man 2. Between making time for Hailey and Ganke, he must also worry about his college essay. Peter is still around to mentor Miles, but after Peter gets a new suit, Miles begins to notice that something isn’t the same about him.
Mary-Jane Watson
Known as MJ to most, Mary-Jane Watson is Peter’s girlfriend and a reporter for JJJ. Although she doesn’t have any spider powers, her brain still makes her an asset to Peter and Miles. You’ll get to play as her during the main questline, and her sections require you to rely on stealth.
Hailey Cooper
Hailey is close friends with Miles and Ganke. Because she is deaf, she utilizes many different methods to communicate with others, including sign language, texts, and text-to-speech applications.
In an FNSM app request titled Graffiti Trouble, you get to play as Hailey. It’s done innovatively, as the muted sound allows you to experience the world as she does. It’s a mission that’s not to be missed.
Venom
Harry’s sickness is cured by a strange alien symbiote. Not only is his health restored, but he actually feels stronger than ever and is able to keep up with Peter Parker even when he’s Spider-Man.
The symbiote proves itself to be more trouble than it is worth when it begins making its host aggressive. Eventually, it takes full control of Harry and becomes Venom, a creature hellbent on spreading symbiote. You’ll get to take control of Venom in the mission titled Don’t Be Scared, and it’s an exhilarating experience.
Miles and Peter are the only characters you can level up, which you do by earning XP. You’ll also need to upgrade their suits and unlock new abilities from their skill trees.
