Where to find the Weapon World hidden treasure chest in Super Mario RPG

One last treasure for the road.

Your journey is almost at its end in Super Mario RPG. Smithy is just around the corner, and Bowser’s Keep isn’t going to save itself. But, of course, there are still some neat things for you to find here. Like an extra hidden treasure chest!

To find the hidden treasure chest in Weapon World, you’ll need to traverse the “Gate” area a bit. This is the section immediately following Bowser’s Keep, and is functionally the final dungeon of the game. The room with the second save point you’ll find has a hidden chest in the corner to the left, which merely contains a Mushroom. Oh well, grab it for completion’s sake.

If you’ve been diligently collecting all the hidden treasure chests to this point, congratulations! With a full collection under your belt, do you know what you get?

Nothing.

Huh.

Yeah, I thought there would be a more triumphant carrot at the end of this stick. Oh well, completionists will have the satisfaction of seeing 39/39 Hidden Treasures Found in their Play Report, which is at least something. I once beat Castlevania on NES without using continues because I thought it’d be a great accomplishment if I did. No one has ever cared about this when I told them, and Konami did not mail me a gold star for mastering their game. If I could at least get a message that said “Tim, you are an admirable human being and this was time well spent,” then you know, maybe I’d sleep better at night.

Anyway, all of this is to say that Super Mario RPG is a good video game in its own right, and I don’t mind collecting treasure chests if it’s just an excuse to play more of it. Also, that Thwomp in Monstro Village does say “Wow” if you have all the hidden treasures in the game. That’s definitely worthwhile.
