How to level up in The Last Faith

Time to spend your… err, Souls?

The curious new Metroidvania, The Last Faith, is a full-fledged Soulslike in all the ways that matter, and this means it comes loaded with all the usual tropes present in these games. The presence of a proper character upgrade vendor is, therefore, a given.

And, indeed, The Last Faith does give players ready access to one such NPC in the form of Helenya, the mysterious lady that hangs around in front of what is, ostensibly, your home base. Lady Helenya will stick around one of the early game locations throughout your romp, so you’ll always know where to go if you need a quick power-up or two.

The Last Faith’s level-up vendor: Helenya

It’s going to take a bit before you get access to the mysterious Helenya in The Last Faith, however. For one, you’re going to need to escape the game’s starting location and duke it out with the formidable first boss. Once that’s all done away with, you’ll still have a short romp ahead of you before you reach the Broken Pass and, more specifically, the Oxnevylle’s Manor.

Helenya is always going to be sitting on a carriage in front of Oxnevylle’s Manor, and levelling up your character is as easy as talking to her and choosing the appropriate option.

While you certainly can bookmark Helenya’s location on your in-game minimap, we don’t think this is genuinely necessary. You’ll be able to teleport to Oxnevylle’s Great Hall from any major checkpoint. From that point, reaching Helenya is as easy as walking out of the Great Hall itself to the Broken Pass. In other words, your upgrade vendor is a hop and a skip from any given teleporter in The Last Faith.

Naturally, in order to pull off some good level-ups, you’ll need to have a stack of Nycrux ready to go, which is the game’s main resource. As with any other Soulslike, each subsequent level-up will cost you more, so it’s worth your while to be fairly tactical in what you invest in.
