Arknights: Endfield is a real-time RPG
Even though the original Arknights is primarily a Tower Defense game, that is not the case with the upcoming Arknights: Endfield. Instead, Arknights: Endfield is a real-time 3D RPG with strategic elements mixed in. Story-wise, Endfield takes place in the same world as Arknights but has its own setting, storyline, characters, and gameplay. Players can explore the open world of the planet Talos-II while leveling up characters in a real-time RPG setting.
As players explore Talos-II, they will unlock new towns and hubs as well as the ability to link them together to progress further in the game. It’s taking similar systems from Arknights, but altering them to fit in the gameplay of a real-time RPG.
Is Arknights: Endfield a Gacha game?
Despite the gameplay shifting gears, Arknights: Endfield is still a Gacha game. Endfield will be free to play but players will use a Gacha system to obtain characters and equipment. Even though not everyone will like that system, it has become somewhat of a staple to these free-to-play styles of games.
If it uses a system similar to Arknights, players will still be able to utilize pulls on the Gacha system even as a free player. Of course, players who opt to spend money on the game will be able to have higher chance or at the very least more frequent pulls to try and get the characters they are looking for.
So at the end of the day, is Arknights: Endfield a Tower Defense game? It’s not. But as we explained, it will have similar features to Arknights, just as a real-time RPG instead.
