Does Palworld have mods or mod support?

Thomas the Tank Engine is inevitable.

Palworld seems to be huge a hit — and not a scam, as once feared. Naturally, as a game with creatures to catch, weapons to fire, and bases to build, expanding such features with mods or mod support in Palworld seems like a no-brainer.

Sadly, Palworld in its early access form has no mods or mod support. So, for those of you dreaming of giving your Grizzbolt Pal a skin to make him look like the Heavy from Team Fortress 2, you’re out of luck. At least, for now.

When will Palworld get mods or mod support?

The Palworld developer, Pocketpair, does plan on including mod support for mods someday. According to the FAQ the team released before the game went live on January 19, Palworld will get Steam Workshop support sometime “after launch.” Here’s what the team says:

“Steam Workshop support won’t be supported straight away but we plan to add it after launch. Palworld is made in Unreal Engine 5 and we look forward to seeing what sort of mods people come up with!”

Obviously, when considering the boundless imagination of modders, I believe it’s only a matter of time before players start traveling the Palworld islands while… riding Thomas the Tank Engine. Or “Macho Man” Randy Savage. I kid, but you know it’ll happen.

Considering the content, however, I bet we’ll see more weapons, character customization, skins, Pals, vehicles, and building options over time. When it comes to mods, the sky is the limit. And Palworld seems ripe for mods and mod support.

But it won’t happen for a while. Palworld entered early access on Steam and Xbox Series X|S on January 19. The game has a long road to travel before its full launch, whenever that may be.
