Though Destiny 2‘s Season 23 saw its last central narrative thread close out during Week 7, a few surprises are still trickling in. Week 8 included the return of the missing Starcat from Week 5 and one more secret Starcat to round the collection out. This was, of course, in addition to the final Catalyst quest for the Wish-Ender Exotic bow. While Season of the Wish’s story may be wrapped up, Guardians can still hunt down all the Starcats to turn the H.E.L.M. into their own personal cattery.
Starcats are a new addition to Destiny 2, accompanying Season 23. The astral felines are collectibles released on a weekly basis throughout the season. Whenever players collect one of the Starcats and claim the associated triumph, the little critter will take up a permanent residence within the H.E.L.M. That said, tracking down all 14 Starcats is no small task. Each is unique and hides in a different spot throughout Season of the Wish content.
While Week 8 marks the end of the great Starcat hunt, players can still nab missed ones from previous weeks. The Starcats from Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5, Week 6, and Week 7 will likely remain in-game alongside their Week 8 buddies until The Final Shape releases. Hopefully, that’s not the end of the line for the Starcats.
Starcrossed Starcat
While Guardians won’t be tasked with going into Riven’s Lair or The Coil for this Starcat, it’ll still take some effort. The Starcrossed Starcat is located at the very end of the Starcrossed Exotic mission. Unfortunately, players can’t just start up the mission and quickly rescue the Starcat before returning to orbit. Guardians will need to complete the Exotic mission in its entirety and then go Starcat hunting.
The Starcrossed Starcat awaits through a portal in the final room of the Starcrossed Exotic mission. This is the same room where Taranis’ bones and the loot chest are. Once the chest is opened, Guardians can head toward the back of the chamber to spot some floating rubble. More rubble appears for each of the Wish-Ender Catalyst quests completed. Players can use the broken platforms like stairs to climb up to an alcove where a powered portal awaits.
Traveling through the portal, Guardians will end up in an unfamiliar hallway that leads to a small circular room. In this room, eagle-eyed players may notice an Ishtar Collective logo looking oddly Vexified. The Starcrossed Starcat is sitting next to the logo.
Cell of the Sycophant Starcat
While players only need 13 out of the total 14 Starcats to claim the Familiar Felines Triumph, it feels like unfinished business to ignore the Cell of the Sycophant’s reemergent Starcat. As of Week 8, the Starcat is back where it should be within the Cell of the Sycophant, which is reachable through The Coil or Riven’s Lair.
Of course, while Riven’s Lair is the faster activity, chances are slim that players will come across the Cell of the Sycophant during their run. The Coil, on the other hand, offers four opportunities to stumble across the chamber. If players want to eliminate chance from the whole ordeal, they could play on another character that has yet to complete Week 5 of the Season 23 story. The involved quest promises a trip to the Cell of the Sycophant.
Once players make their way to the chamber, the Starcat is on the other side of the room on the right. This cosmic kitty is nestled within some flowers and grass, enjoying some time with nature.
Where do the Week 8 Starcats go?
With the last two Starcats found, players can head back to the H.E.L.M. to see what kind of cat craziness they’ve unleashed. Each Starcat will discover its own favorite spot within the H.E.L.M. and reside there. While some are pretty tame, others spend their time doing cat things, like knocking over stuff on tables. As a reminder, Guardians must ensure they’ve claimed the associated Starcat Triumph before the felines appear in the H.E.L.M.
The Starcrossed Starcat may have the best seat in the whole house. Residing in the Wing of the Wish, this Starcat is living large in a hot tub. Within the Wing of the Wish, some stairs lead down to a meeting room with a few props. To celebrate and promote the Witcher crossover, one of these props is the iconic Witcher 3 hot tub with reimaginings of Geralt’s weapons leaning against it. The Starcrossed Starcat is hanging out in this hot tub, proving all cats don’t hate water.
The Cell of the Sycophant Starcat finally comes home to the H.E.L.M. and helps fill out one of its lighter Starcat hangouts. The Triumph text for this feline has long hinted to players that this Starcat loves nothing more than lounging around greenery, and there’s only one place in the H.E.L.M. with abundant flora. Players will find the Cell of the Sycophant Starcat within the Wing of the Deep. It’s hanging out above the portal to the Sonar Station in one of the suspended planters.
