Helldivers 2 is a horde-style game where you fight dozens or hundreds of alien bugs. Normally, it’s suggested that you team up with some fellow meat bags to increase your chances of survival — while not exactly guaranteeing it. If you’re a solo player, experiencing Helldivers 2 alone is probably not recommended.
But you can play Helldivers 2 solo. Keep in mind that your success at scoring that cup of liber-tea will be greatly reduced. As mentioned, Helldivers 2 is a horde-style game where you and your buddies crash against waves of alien insects called Terminids and other nastiness. You can join a team of up to four players. It’s suggested you do so since playing the game alone could become a frustrating endeavor.
How do you play Helldivers 2 alone?
Helldivers 2 is always online and leans hard on co-op play, which means you need to jump through a couple of hoops to go solo. To play Helldivers 2 alone, you will have to set up a game and change it to ‘Friends Only’ in the multiplayer options. Naturally, you’ll need to forgo inviting your pals to join you. But it’s even better if you don’t have any friends! Oh, wait. No, that’s actually not what I meant. I’m so sorry.
Personally, as someone who has trudged through bug guts before, I wouldn’t recommend playing Helldivers 2 solo. I haven’t done it myself yet, but I recall how hard the original got with just two people. Having a team of four, on the other hand, made survival much more attainable, and the game way more fun. But if you’re one of those types who has to play Elden Ring with their feet to feel properly challenged, then more power to you. Maybe it’ll be better once we get those Mech suits, eh?
