Eventually, as you progress through Skull and Bones, you will unlock The Helm. It’s essentially a feature that progresses into the end game, giving you more to do as a pirate. Here is everything we know about The Helm in Skull and Bones and why you should bother with the feature in the first place.
How does The Helm work?
In Skull and Bones, The Helm is a progression system that allows you to build your own Pirate Empire via an underground smuggling network. The core system behind The Helm is split into three functions:
- Supply Network
- Distillery
- Order Registry
First, you utilize your Supply Network to locate a liaison who will supply you with stolen materials at a good price. Visit this liaison and trade with them to get Raw Helm Materials.
Once you have the materials, you head to the Distillery to turn the raw materials into Helm Wares. The first supply chain you will do is acquire Sugar Cane to turn into White Skull Rum at your Distillery.
With the Helm Wares in hand, visit the Order Registry to find a buyer for your Helm Wares. You then sail to that buyer to sell your produced Helm Wares for a good profit as well as some extra Infamy.
Keep in mind, however, that you cannot fast-travel to the location from an Order Registry, and must manually sail the goods to that location. Also, while sailing for an order via the Order Registry, you open yourself to be attacked by Rogue Pirates who can attempt to sink your ship and steal your goods.
How do you unlock The Helm in Skull and Bones?
Simply continue to progress through the main story missions with Scurlock and you will eventually get one to meet up with the barkeep in Sainte-Anne. Continue through this questline and eventually she will tell you about The Helm and unlock the feature for you.
Once you have unlocked the feature, you can return to the bar in Sainte-Anne at anytime and visit the back area to reach The Helm.
