LMGs inhabit a unique space within the pantheon of weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. They’re big, hard-hitting, and surprisingly customizable. The February 13, 2024 update breathed new life into the TAQ Evolvere LMG with a slew of buffs that have some in the community saying it’s the next best thing since sliced bread. As an LMG convert with the release of Modern Warfare 3, I felt compelled to add the TAQ Evolvere to my collection and craft the best build and loadout.
The CoD MW3 LMG build to end them all
The big draw for the TAQ Evolvere is that it is incredibly precise. Once you’ve got a bead on your target, it is incredibly easy to stay locked on. There is little to no recoil or kick to it, making it a threat at most ranges. It handles like a Battle Rifle while having a magazine so deep there might be an angler fish or two swimming around in it. It’s an incredibly versatile weapon with only two real drawbacks: aim-down-sight speed and reload speed.
How to unlock the TAQ Evolvere in MW3
To add the TAQ Evolvere to their MW3 arsenal, players will need to complete three daily challenges. This is assuming you’ve already unlocked the ability to complete Armory Unlock challenges which require you to reach level 25.
Once you’ve unlocked the TAQ Evolvere, you’ll need to unlock its attachments. I jumped into the Small Map Mosh Pit playlist and had all 19 levels of this LMG’s progression done in about 90 minutes. This will make all of the base attachments available with others still available through other weapon progressions or Armory Unlocks.
MW3 TAQ Evolvere Build
Here are all of the components for the best TAQ Evolvere build:
- Laser: Schlager PEQ Box IV
- +1 Aim down sight speed
- Optic: Dragon’s Eye Optic
- +4 Precision sight picture
- Rear Grip: XRK Response Grip
- +2 Aiming idle sway
- +2 Gun kick control
- +2 Recoil control
- -2 Aim walking speed
- Underbarrel: SL Skeletal Vertical Grip
- +1 Aim down sight speed
- +1 Vertical recoil
- +1 Sprint to fire speed
- -2 Hipfire and Tac Stance spread
- -1 Horizontal recoil
- Muzzle: VT-7 Spitfire Suppressor L
- +4 Undetectable by radar
- +2 Recoil control
- +2 Bullet velocity
- +1 Damage range
- -2 Aim down sight speed
- -1 Aim walking steadiness
- -1 Sprint to fire speed
The TAQ Evolvere build I’ve put together works best on smaller maps like Shipment and Rust while also being competitive on medium-sized maps. The biggest component was buffing the already strong stability while also improving the range and accuracy. The only optional component in here is the Optic as it’s entirely a preference.
Should you choose to forgo it, I would use the Assault-60 Stock. Finally, while other TAQ Evolvere builds opt to swap the magazine, I like the default 100 rounds because it’s enough to clear out a group of enemies on a point without needing to reload mid-assault. No matter the magazine used, reload times are abysmal as the TAQ Evolvere is still an LMG.
Loadout for the TAQ Evolvere build
When it comes to your other equipment, the choices are largely yours to make. The only two requirements I have are the Marksman Gloves and the Ghost T/V Camo for additional stability while aiming down sights and staying functionally invisible.
- Vest: Demolition Vest
- Resupply Lethal and Tactical equipment every 25 seconds
- Tactical: Flash Grenade
- Blinds and deafens targets
- Lethal: Thermite
- An explosive incendiary device that sticks to all surfaces
- Gloves: Marksman Gloves
- Reduced sway and flinch while aiming down sight
- Gear: Mag Holster
- Improved reload speed
- Boots: Covert Sneakers
- Eliminates footstep sounds
- Gear: Ghost T/V Camo
- Detection by UAVs, enemy radar, and Heartbeat Sensors is blocked while moving
