Palworld: 10 darkest Paldeck descriptions

Palpagos is truly terrifying

On the surface, Palworld is filled with cute creatures that can be captured to help you maintain your base. However, when you look beyond the surface, you very quickly come to learn that Palpagos has seen some weirdness, and things get pretty dark.

In a game where you can butcher Pals and humans or enslave them to do the hard work so you don’t have to, there’s more than a little bit of darkness hiding within Palworld. Nowhere is this more true than within the descriptions of the Pals themselves.

Of course, there’s the well-known description of Lovander, who has taken a liking to Humans and seeks them out for ‘company’ (wink wink), but there are some Pals whose descriptions are far darker than that, and in an outright way too.

From a Pal who occasionally murders its master to one who shouldn’t even exist in the first place, let’s look at the darkest Pal descriptions in Palworld.

1 Lifmunk

Don’t let Lifmunk’s innocent, cute face deceive you. While they’re intelligent, they’re also a little too eager to have fun with their weaponry, and this has resulted in the death of humans due to Lifmunk’s over-eagerness. This is the main reason I’ve thus far refused to equip my Lifmunk with their Submachine Gun – I really don’t need that to be how I die.

2 Helzephyr

Not only does Helzephyr have the power to call forth lightning from the pits of Hell, it has the power to send anyone who annoys it straight there too. With its neon markings and the purple fiery tuft on its head, Hell wasn’t the first place that sprung to mind when I first witnessed Helzephyr, though perhaps caution should be executed when dealing with them in the future.

3 Killamari

If you’ve ever seen the underside of a Killamari, you’ll know that they have a terrifying circle of razor-sharp teeth down there, and when you find out how Killamari kill their enemies, it makes a lot of sense. Of course, this is reflected in the behavior of Squid in the real world, but I’m not sure I needed such a detailed description for such a cute, at first glance at least, Pal. I’d recommend not using Killamari as a Glider, just in case.

4 Hangyu

Hangyu, with its happy little face and arms that look like they would provide an amazing hug, was actually a form of torture in days gone by. While the regular Hangyu was used to tear the skin from the bones of criminals, Hangyu Cryst was used to tear the hair out of sinners’ heads as they lay tied to the floor. Since finding this out, I’ve never been able to look at Hangyu in quite the same way.

5 Nitewing

Nitewing is likely the first flying Pal you came across during your adventure, and if you’re anything like me, it was the first flying mount you used as well. Well, when I discovered just how awful Nitewing actually are, I promptly switched to a different bird, and I’ve never looked back. It’s bad enough that they snatch newborn Pals away from their parents, but then to fatten them up so they can hunt their adopted children for kicks? Damn, that’s cold.

6 Incinceram Noct

While Incineram likes to snatch unwitting prey in the dead of night, Incineram Noct seems to take this one step further (many would say too far) by specifically targeting babies. I’m not sure how this Dark variant got a taste for young flesh, but however it happened, Incineram Noct should probably be kept far away from the Breeding Farm.

7 Dazzi

I’m getting flashbacks from High School just reading this description. Dazzi seems to be the epitome of a Mean Girl, manipulating others into thinking they’re cared for before electrocuting them. If you’re sensitive to rejection or likely to fall for their charms, Dazzi should probably be given a wide berth.

8 Maraith

I’m not sure about you, but I’d rather not be alerted to my impending death, and I’m reassured by the fact that in my 100+ hours of playtime, I’ve never encountered a Maraith that I haven’t hatched from a wild egg. Somehow, this bizarre-looking Pal is even more creepy, knowing that it is, essentially, the grim reaper of the Pal world.

9 Menasting

Menasting is the Pal equivalent of a Venus Fly Trap, consuming whole, living prey and allowing it to disintegrate inside it. I don’t want to imagine how long that torturous death would take or whether Menasting’s hunger is ever satiated, but I’m choosing to ignore any ominous screaming whenever one is nearby. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

10 Shadowbeak

To really appreciate how dark and depraved this description is, you have to delve into the Journals of Victor Ashford.

In a nutshell, Victor spent a very long time on interbreeding experimentation, trying to breed four-legged and winged Pals to create one that combined the two elements. After many, many attempts and numerous specimens which ‘disintegrated’ and were ‘disposed of’, Victor successfully managed to create the first Shadowbeak, which Victor attributed to an ‘unknown external factor’.

This success occurred at around the same time as the ominous disappearance of his lab assistant, Alex, and no one yet knows whether the two are connected in any way.
