The tutorial of Nightingale throws you in at the deep end, tossing you between biomes without giving you much of a chance to find your feet. One of the resources that you’re going to need to hoard, both in and out of the tutorial, is Plant Fiber, but it’s strangely hard to find in the Desert.
I say ‘strangely’, because Plant Fiber invariably comes from plants that look like they have dried up and died, something that you’d think would be pretty common in the harsh, unforgiving heat of the Desert. If you’re looking for it, you’ll struggle to find it unless you go to one specific area within the biome.
While you can find small amounts of Plant Fiber dotted around the map, the most lucrative location to gather it is around the lake. To find the lake, head in the direction of the next Portal, and you’ll soon find the water.
What is Plant Fiber used for in Nightingale?
You’ll need Plant Fiber for almost every step of the tutorial, as it’s heavily focused on crafting and each item requires a certain amount of Fiber. If you’re reading this before heading to the Desert biome, I strongly recommend stocking up on Plant Fiber during your exploration of the Forest Biome.
But you won’t just need it within the tutorial. Plant Fiber is used not only in crafting, but in building and you’ll want to construct a base as soon as you enter your Abeyance Realm at the end of the tutorial.
My advice is to gather as much Plant Fiber as you can, whenever you can. If you find a rich source of the stuff, collect as much as you can and take it with you in order to avoid frustration when you inevitably run out as soon as you need it to complete a quest.
