The Glider, now the Foldable Glider, is a uniquely fun method of travel in Sons of the Forest. Until now, it couldn’t be stored in your inventory, but patch 1.0 changed this. Now’s the time to go out and pick up a Glider yourself for easier island exploration.
As long as you’ve got somewhere to jump from or the Glider Launcher, you’ll be able to use the Foldable Glider to cover huge distances in a short amount of time, all while enjoying the breathtaking views from above and avoiding enemy encounters.
Sons of the Forest – Glider Location
The easiest-to-reach, early-game Gliders are in the North-West on the cliffs, overlooking the beach. Once close, an icon should appear on your GPS to let you know that you’re heading in the right direction.
I recommend heading to the Western coast, as finding it is slightly easier than finding the Northern Coast Glider. Simply follow the large river that flows into the lake where the Helicopter Crash Site is (marked with X on the image above), heading North after hitting the beach.
How to use a Glider in Sons of the Forest
Once you’ve got your hands on a Glider, you can open your Inventory by pressing I and assign it to a hotkey between 1 and 0. Now you just need a high altitude point to leap from, which is another reason that these two specific Gliders are in perfect locations.
Equip your glider and, in short, take a running jump off of the cliff. Then the fun begins.
In the middle of the Glider, there’s a small compass which has a green dot and circle on it. Your aim, most of the time, is to keep the green dot within the circle; this means you’re going straight and you’ll maintain speed and altitude. Moving the dot above the circle will angle you upwards and slow you down, while moving it below the circle will send you into a nosedive which isn’t advisable at any point.
To land, you want to slowly approach the ground at a gentle angle, as though you’ll be able to run once you touch down. If you crash into the ground at an angle that’s too steep, you’ll die and end up respawning inside a cannibal camp, so bear that in mind.
