The Mystifying Megachurl is the giant samachurl boss of the Journey through Hilinigmatic Terrain event in Genshin Impact. The battle can be pretty challenging if you don’t engage with its mechanics, so here’s a breakdown of how to beat all four stages in the Patch 4.4 event.
The Megachurl is extremely resistant to all damage types unless it is stunned. Each of the four event stages has different ways to stun the Megachurl, and its vulnerable period only lasts for about 10 seconds. I don’t recommend trying to ignore the special boss mechanics. Brute force can only get you so far.
Stage 1: Mi muhe ye!
During the first stage of Hilinigmatic Duel, the Megachurl causes giant sunsettias to rain from the sky. Hit a sunsettia with a melee attack and stay near the resulting puddle of juice. The Megachurl will come toward you, slip on the juice, and fall over. This makes it take damage and enter a stunned state.
Stage 2: Domu a dada!
The second stage features cabbages that rain from the sky. Position yourself behind a cabbage and melee it toward the Megachurl. The cabbage will roll toward the Megachurl, dealing damage and depleting its shield. When the Megachurl’s shield is fully depleted, it enters a stunned state. It takes two green cabbages or one golden cabbage to stun the Megachurl.
Stage 3: La la la!
In stage three, the Megachurl protects itself with a red shield while hopping around the stage. Meanwhile, the entire stage is covered in updrafts that increase your jump height. Use Plunging Attacks on the Megachurl to deplete its shield. You will need to time your plunges so that you hit the Megachurl while it’s on the ground. You can also dodge the Megachurl’s AoE attacks by jumping into the air. It takes three plunges in order to fully deplete the Megachurl’s shield and stun it.
Stage 4: Muhe dada!
The fourth and final stage includes a combination of all three mechanics above. Watch the Megachurl to see if it summons sunsettias, cabbages, or updrafts and adjust your strategy accordingly.
If you’re having trouble defeating this boss even with the tips above, try it in co-op! You can either team up with friends, or use the “Match” function to be queued with strangers. Co-op makes this challenge much easier, since you and your teammates can all deal on-field damage during the Megachurl’s short vulnerability window.
